TOURS & ACTIVITIES
presented by Timeless African Adventures in conjunction with
Space For Elephants Foundation and the local communities.

THE WORLD OF OUR ANCESTRAL SPIRIT EXPERIENCE
gives us a clue to the African philosophy of Ubuntu and how important our respect for our ancestors is.  We will verify this by taking part in a Sangoma spiritual medium and healer ceremony at her home.  Discuss the history of Zululand.  Learn about the culture and traditions of our Ama-Thonga and Ama-Zulu people.  Pay homage to Isaiah Shembe, whom bridged the Zulu belief of ancestral spirit worship, with Christianity.  Nature is the temple of the Shembe people, which we visit on top of the Ubomo Mountains where we have an indigenous food lunch prepared by the community, while we enjoy breathtaking vistas of Pongola Game Reserve and Lake Jozini below.

GHOST MOUNTAIN TOUR
View the silent battlefield of Tshaneni.  Spare a tribute to the souls who fell.  Learn how the Royal Line from King Shaka (1820) to King Goodwill (Pres.) was secured by a remarkable twist of political allegiances.  We ponder the legends of Ghost Mountain, and learn about the sacred burial caves.  We traverse the first planned Space for Elephant's corridor linking the Swaziland Transfrontier Park and St Lucia Wetland Park.

THE GEMSTONE AND GEOLOGY TRAIL
The Lubombo Mountains have a powerful influence over this region.  Learn how they were formed.  Follow Rider Haggard's footsteps - inspiring him to wirte classics like King Solomon's Mines - through the time span of the formation of crystals and gemstones.  Share the Zulu's rural way of life.  Then, together with the diggers at their primitive gemstone mine, dig for your own treasures of the earth.  Allow yourself to be tempted to buy gemstones, crystals and crafts from the local community.  A typical prospector's lunch will be served at the pithead.

BORDER CAVES
Inhabited by our ancient ancestors some 150 000 years ago.  These caves sheltered the skeletal remains of a child buried in a ritualistic position.  It is believed to be amongst the oldest such site in the world.  Does this suggest some form of abstract thought so long ago...?  We discuss these studies at the little museum.  Stunning views into Swaziland while we share a caveman's feast in the cave.
